Magnetic Valley

Magnetic valley is a project aiming at the development of operational products and services, based on the expertise of the RMI Geophysical Centre, in order to contribute to the socio-economic revival. For more than 50 years, the fields of expertise in which the Geophysical Centre is a world reference are: the Earth's magnetic field, the ionosphere and the environmental magnetism.

A lot of high tech applications is based on Radio Waves propagation. Ionosphere, the uppermost part of the atmosphere, is the major actor for understanding and predicting radio waves perturbations. We currently offer data and products related to geomagnetic and ionospheric activity and a qualitative estimate of GNSS signals.
Soil pollution is an modern concern: 3 Millions of sites are potentially polluted in Europe (mainly by mineral oil & heavy metal – source: EEA) We develop a method aiming at providing a cost efficient estimation of Heavy Metal Soil pollution, based on Magnetic Susceptibility measurement
With our advanced equipment, we are able to perform laboratory measurements of magnetic and non-magnetic properties of soil samples. As result of these measurements we are able to provide you the raw data. On demand we can process and interprete the data for you.
We provide geomagnetic services to airports in the Benelux & abroad:

                  compass rose certification
                  runway azimuth orientation
                  supply of geomagnetic data
With our homemade autodif we are able to have automated measurement of magnetic inclination and declination without human interference.
Currently we attein an accuracy of less then 6 arcseconds.
Autodif can be installed in any geomagnetic unpolluted area, even in remote areas on land or on seafloors since no operator is requested.
